Welcome to “The Grammar of Painting.” The title of my blog is taken from Henry James’ “The Art of Fiction,” as you may already know. This blog is meant to explore writing about art specifically, and writing in general. I may also throw in some things that are totally unrelated that inspire me, as everything adds up to art, n’est-ce pas?
My name is Drema Drudge. Here you will learn about, obviously, my writing, which is my number one passion, closely followed by my love of art. It seems natural to combine the loves, and often I do. I am never happier than when writing about art! (Reading about it comes in a close second.)
Though my first love is fiction (novellas, novels, short stories, and flash fiction, in that order), I also enjoy writing CNF and trying my hand at poetry. I have been writing since I was about nine, but more on that later.
I am an MFA student with Spalding University. I have been published in The Louisville Review, Mused, ATG, Mother Earth News, Penumbra, as well as in other publications, and I am a regular contributor to the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
My goal is to update this site weekly, but I am in the middle of some school and writing deadlines, so I can only promise to try. In the meantime, take a look at my current blog posts, and please add your thoughts. I truly desire a dialogue.
I have just completed a novella that involves, yes, art. And I am beginning a new novel about a painter. Stay tuned…
Some personal background: I am married to the incomparable Barry Drudge, musician extraordinaire. We have been married for 21 years and we have two grown children and a fish that is not. We live in a charming town in Indiana.
I am available for speaking, teaching creative writing, editing, freelancing, and book signings. I may be contacted at dremadrudge@yahoo.com.

Thanks for following The Light Ekphrastic! You should submit sometime.
Thank you for your kind offer. I will.
I heart art, too, and look forward to your posts
Thanks, Danni! That means a lot. I can’t wait to check out your blog as well. Welcome aboard!
